Turkey”s industrial production saw a 2.4 percent increase in March over the same month in 2011, recording the 28th increase in a row, according to data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) released on Tuesday. The expectation for annual growth for industrial production in March was 2.2 percent in the markets. March”s figures are the highest seen in the industrial production sector in Turkey in the past eight years. According to TurkStat figures for sub-sectors, the mining sector saw an increase of 4.3 percent; the manufacturing sector indexed an increase of 1.6 percent; and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply saw an increase of 7.9 percent. The calendar-adjusted production index increased 2.5 percent when compared to the same month in 2011, and seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index were up 0.7 percent in the same period.
